Observing Notes

from the Tuckahoe Irregulars

Tuckahoe Friday May 10, 2002... Ralph Dominica
The cloud cover did end up dissipating by about 9:45. Don Surles had said it would clear and he was right on. A few of us from DAS including Tom Sidowski, Dave, Pete, Bill Hannagan, his wife MaryAnn and myself were there. We had about 20-25 people who showed plus a visiting troop of girl scouts who were camping at the park. Although we had to contend with some hazy patches it was still a good night for Deep Sky object observing. The Whirlpool, Sunflower and the Sombrero as well as the Virgo Cluster made for some great viewing. Ikea Zang made a pretty spectacular showing with its current neighbors in Hercules M13 and M92.

A nice evening of observing and socializing. I don't get a chance to get to Tuckahoe as much as I'd like but was glad I made it tonight.

regards
Ralph Dominica
