Observing Notes

from the Tuckahoe Irregulars

Tuckahoe, November 6 2001...Steve Long
Stripes, splashes, globs, blobs, rivers, pillars, curtains and streams.  Reds, whites, greens (and blues?),  so intense that
they were visible even near a 70% full moon.  My most unique sight was a group of narrow, parallel greenish-white smears, high in the sky and disconnected from the broader aurora-glow on the horizon.  For 40 seconds it looked as if the bear from the indianlegend about Devil's Tower had taken a swipe at Cassiopeia.
Don may have some photos tonight.  I shot a whole roll, but it is slide film and I won't get to see it for a few days.
