Observing Notes

from the Tuckahoe Irregulars

Tuckahoe June 24, 2003... Dave Wells
Hi All,

It was a great night at TSP. Clear skies and lots of good company (10 or 11 scopes).

I got to look at some old friends (Jupiter and M57) and experience some new firsts with my scope (diffuse nebulae - North American [NGC 7000], Crescent [IC 5070], Gamma Cygni [IC 1318] and M17 [Swan]. I was using my Astronomik UHC filter for the first time and was very pleased with the results.

I also enjoyed looking at various globular clusters and galaxies through several of the "light buckets" that were there.

Good conversations with some great people and a "single malt" tasting accompanied by gourmet snacks.

Those of us who hung in to the end (2:30 am) were rewarded with some decent views of Mars, once it had risen above the ground fog and murk.

Thanks, to all who were there, for a great time.

Dave
