Observing Notesfrom the Tuckahoe IrregularsHere is a short report from the viewing session Saturday night. Jean- Paul was set up when I got there around 5:30. There was pretty heavy cloud cover at that time. I started setting my stuff up and Mark showed with his gear. At this point there was a lot of optimism that the sky would clear up. My drive from south had heavy cover in the Salisbury area and I almost turned back then. The sky cleared completely as I went North of 50 on 13 and I continued. In any case we were able to view some "variable" planets, a few odds and ends during a clear but short sucker hole that lasted around 30 minutes. The moon (also variable) was a sliver and just above the horizon. That made for some interesting viewing. After that we gave it till 9:00 and we all left. I got home to Onancock around 11:30 and set up my 80mm short tube on the eq mount and enjoyed 3 hours of absolutely star-studded sky. The only thing missing was the good company I had up at Tuckahoe.
