Observing Notesfrom the Tuckahoe IrregularsJust finished 3 nights under very dark midwestern skies. The NSP is held at a primitive campground on a man made reservoir 35 miles from the nearest town. We had two great nights and got clouded out on the third. The skies were on a par with Spruce Knob with zero moisture. None of the locals had dew zappers on their scopes. They said they had over 350 people registered but they spread out over 180 acres so it didn’t look crowded. This is a really spread out star party. The registration and vendors were set up 8 miles from the observing field and they have presentations at the high school in Valentine NE 36 miles from the field. It is a good thing they hold this at a lake because it hit 110 degrees today and the only relief was the water. We may not have great skies on Delmarva but I think we put on a better star party. See everyone in September. Keith |
