There will be a transit of Mercury on November 11, 2019.

Many of you may have seen the Transits of Venus and certainly the last Transit of Mercury which was became a bit cloudy in Delaware at the end. If you love the speed of a lunar eclipse you’ll be  thrilled by this 5 and a half hours transit.

In Delaware this transit will already have started and will be mostly observable (weather permitting – prediction is for 40%  cloudy). The good news is that it is cloudy 61% of the time on this day.

A group of Stargazers and anyone else interested will meet at Woodland Beach  around 6:30AM  although since the even will last until around 1PM  you could arrive later. Telescopes with good solar filters are welcome.

“Drive on Rt 6 out of Smyrna, DE until you can’t drive any more.” The beaches are private so don’t walk or set up on them without the house owner’s permission.

The current (as of April 25th) table gives transit information for Philadelphia rather than Dover.
